New Photos From Marvel's "Iron Man 3"

That fantastic first trailer for Iron Man 3 was more than a tease for the first film kicking of Phase Two of Marvel's cinematic universe. But there are a few things that we didn't catch much of a glimpse of in that trailer. The first is co-star Rebecca Hall, who is playing "a scientist who plays a pivotal role in the creation of a nanotechnology." In a new first look photo, she's in some sort of unseen danger and has been a little roughed up. another show a Stressed Tony Stark. In addition, we have a new shot of Ben Kingsley as the villain Mandarin, a closer look at Iron Patriot armor, and a worrisome shot of the broken helmet of Iron Man himself. Can it be May 2013 now?

Iron Man 3 is directed by Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) working from a script that he co-wrote with Drew Pearce. Actor Robert Downey Jr. returns as Tony Stark and Iron Man in this sequel described as a technological crisis thriller in the midst of international war, taking place after the events of The Avengers. Sir Ben Kinglsey is playing Iron Man's arch nemesis Mandarin and Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Dale Dickey, Ashley Hamilton, James Badge Dale and Jon Favreau all co-star in the Marvel Studios production. Disney is bringing Iron Man 3 to theaters on May 3rd, 2013 next summer. So?

Author Lee Child Defends the Casting of Tom Cruise in New Featurette for 'JACK REACHER'

If there's one thing that has fans of Lee Child's novels featuring recurring character Jack Reacher worried about the film adaptation, it's the casting of Tom Cruise. The actor is almost the opposite of how the towering, buff character is described in the books. But shortly after the casting was announced, the author gave his seal of approval on Cruise's casting saying, "Reacher's size in the books is a metaphor for an unstoppable force, which Cruise portrays in his own way." Now the author is back in a new featurette for the film from director Christopher McQuarrie, and he again addresses the casting of Cruise. Watch below!

Exclusive: Final Trailer for 'Django Unchained' is Full of Action

"In my world, you gotta get dirty. So that's what I'm doing. I'm getting dirty." it's almost time for Django Unchained, the newest film from Quentin Tarantino. And with that in mind, The Weinstein Company has just released a brand new trailer for the film starring Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, Jonah Hill and many more. Vin Diesel is Back in New Teaser Poster of 'Riddick'

Here's the International poster, as debuted by CineHeroes. I hope we see more great marketing for Riddick soon.

Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick director David Twohy returns to write and direct the sequel Riddick starring Vin Diesel. Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction. As promised on the French poster, the film has been set to come out here sometime in 2013 as well, but distributor Universal has yet to set a specific date.

Let Freedom Ring! December is coming up fast, and that means we finally get to see Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, arriving in theaters on Christmas Day next month. (India: March 2013) A new 60-second long TV spot recently debuted for Django, and although we've seen plenty of footage already in at least two full trailers, this features some great moments to keep everyone excited for a few more weeks. Jamie Foxx stars as freed slave-turned-bounty hunt Django, along with Christoph Waltz as Dr. Schultz, Leonardo DiCaprio as Calvin Candie, with Kerry Washington and Samuel L. Jackson. "Who knows what could happen?"

Django Unchained is written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, who last brought us Inglourious Basterds. In the film, the Django (Jamie Foxx) is a freed slave, who under the tutelage of a German bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) becomes a bounty hunter himself, and together they track down his slave wife (Kerry Washington) and liberate her from the evil plantation owner (Leonardo DiCaprio). The cast includes Jonah Hill, Amber Tamblyn, Dennis Christopher, Walton Goggins, M.C. Gainey, Don Johnson, Anthony LaPaglia, Zoe Bell, James Russo, James Remar, Todd Allen and Franco Nero.

'Star Trek' Experts: Does 'Darkness' Synopsis Reveal, but Villain Is Still Mystery

For those fans who were hoping that an official synopsis might finally reveal what villain Benedict Cumberbatch might play in the anticipated 2013 sequel Star Trek Into Darkness, the people at Bad Robot and Paramount Pictures are still playing their cards close to the Starfleet emblem on their chest. The official synopsis for the sequel to J.J. Abrams' 2009 sci-fi franchise reboot has finally been revealed, and while it gives us a clear plot, and might even give a little too much away, there's still plenty of mystery surrounding the villain, who remains unnamed despite being described as quite the terrorist. Here's the official synopsis for Star Trek Into Darkness released by Paramount Pictures:

In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes “Star Trek Into Darkness.” When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

When the sequel started shooting in January, this writer mentioned a strong desire for a "less generic villain who has more personal ties to someone on the crew of the Enterprise." The line of the synopsis that says Captain Kirk has a "personal score to settle" seems to satisfy my desires. It remains to be seen if the on-and-off rumors of Cumberbatch playing Khan, the iconic villain from the second original Star Trek franchise film, could end up being true. Either way, it sounds like this villain might end up killing someone on the crew if  "sacrifices must be made."

We can't wait to see what happens when the film arrives in theaters on May 17th, 2013.

Must Watch: Theatrical Trailer and Poster For "THE BAYTOWN OUTLAWS"

Barry Battles’ The Baytown Outlaws (once known as The Baytown Disco) could and should be a ton of fun. On paper, it sounds like a Southern-fried Fargo, a double-barreled Grindhouse thriller set below the Mason-Dixon line. Even that first poster embraced its gritty, sleazy potential, turning a traditional Star Wars pose into a Smokey and the Bandit tribute. 

We were holding off fully embracing Baytown until we managed to see some footage, and now a full(ish) trailer setting up the not-so-complicated criminal plot that has been posted on Yahoo Movies. And the clip delivers on the giddy, guilty promise of the film’s explosive potential. Check it out right here:

Nabbing Billy Bob Thornton for the role of chief redneck villain is fantastic. Adding Eva Longoria as the gratuitous hottie is effective (while not entirely groundbreaking). But the hook appears to be the idiotic brothers hired by Longoria’s character to retrieve her kidnapped brother, who happens to be in a wheelchair. It’s described by one character as “a damn simple smash-and-grab.” As you can probably guess, it ends up being anything but that. 

The Baytown Outlaws also stars Michael Rapaport, Daniel Cudmore, Clayne Crawford, Travis Fimmel, Andre Braugher and Paul Wesley. It’s due in theaters sometime next year, though a release date has not been confirmed at the moment. But because the movie suddenly has a new name, What do you think?

'Iron Man 3' Is Not a Serious Movie Says Producer Kevin Feige

After that first trailer for Iron Man 3 debuted last month, fans noticed the obvious lack of humor and sarcasm that we've come to expect from Robert Downey Jr. and his perfect take on Tony Stark. However, it sounds like Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige wants to make sure everyone knows that they're not going straight-up serious for the sequel from director Shane Black. After all, the man behind the dark comedy Kiss Kiss Bang Bang has to bring at least some laughs right? In a recent interview with The West Australian (via ComingSoon), Feige says, "It's not a serious movie, but we seriously dig into exploring more of Tony."

It's important to note that the serious nature of the first Iron Man 3 trailer shouldn't really indicate that the entire film will be serious, but the stakes are high and Tony has been shaken after the events in New York City from The Avengers. Feige explains that they're not aiming for making a movie that can be defined as simply serious, "The trick is just trying to make great movies. We try to make them all great, all different and all fresh. What you'll see in Iron Man 3 is some very unique directions that were taken." And that's exactly why someone like Shane Black has been brought in to direct this time.

In fact, Black had his own thoughts on the approach he and Marvel have taken with Iron Man 3:

"We're not aiming for bigger, necessarily. We're aiming for different and fresh and new. It's all about capturing that lightning-in-a-bottle feel, about trying to get as much into this as we can. We're looking to get a ton of thrills into a short space, to make a nice little stew for you."

Hopefully they're not throwing too much into the film, something that afflicted Iron Man 2 as the balance between an Iron Man movie and a set-up for The Avengers with Nick Fury and Black Widow didn't work out very well. Considering the big cast and what we've heard about characters being included from the comic books, the sequel sounds like it could be bloated. However, Feige explained to Empire (via Collider):

'Iron Man 3' doesn’t feature any of the other Avengers, or Nick Fury showing up, or any of those world-blending conceits that the Phase One films had. You have to keep in mind that 'Iron Man 3' had been in the works for almost a year, year and a half before 'The Avengers' was released. We’re sticking to the vision for these films, and showing once again that these characters are just as interesting alone as they are together.

Sad news for fans hoping to see Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) show up to pal around in the lab with Tony Stark, but either way, that first trailer certainly got us more than excited and we don't need the other Avengers to sweeten the deal. And if you need anymore convincing, Downey threw in his two cents, "You can dissect why [The Avengers] was the right movie with the right people and the right director at the time. But we feel the same way about Iron Man 3 now." Now we just have to wait until summer 2013 to see how it all works out.

Zack Snyder Hints at ‘Man of Steel’ Connection to ‘Justice League’

Ever since we heard that Warner Bros. was getting serious about putting together a Justice League movie after the success of The Avengers (including hiring Gangster Squad writer Will Beall to take a first run at the script and hoping for a release in 2015), fans have been wondering if next summer's Man of Steel would be the first film to help set the stage for the DC Comics superhero ensemble. After all, Iron Man kicked off the long journey to The Avengers, so it would only make sense to have this new franchise start the fire. And now director Zack Snyder seems to vaguely confirm something along those lines. More below!

Speaking with the NY Post (via The Playlist), Snyder was asked about Justice League:

"I don’t know how 'Justice League' is going to be handled. Honestly, I don't. But 'The Man of Steel' exists, and Superman is in it. I don't know how you'd move forward without acknowledging that."

Nice side-step there, but Zack Snyder was prodded for a more direct answer and stated:

"I can't really say anything to that, because that's a big spoiler. I will say, yeah, they trust me to keep them on course."

So it's not exactly a direct confirmation, but it sounds like there's definitely some kind of link to Justice League, or at least this Man of Steel reboot will exist in the same universe. Of course, the question will likely be if Warner Bros. will be happy enough with Man of Steel to keep Snyder's iteration around for a superhero ensemble. After all, if Iron Man hadn't been a big success, you have to wonder how The Avengers would have played out (if at all) following a failure. We're hoping DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. are on the right track to play catch-up so we can see Justice League come together in a few years. Your thoughts?

Watch: Trailer for 'Snitch' starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Susan Sarandon

"There is no way I'm gonna let either side dictate our fates." It looks like 2013 is going to be an action-packed year for Dwayne Johnson. G.I. Joe: Retaliation finally sees a release in March after a delay for 3D conversion, Fast and Furious 6 arrives in the summer, and Michael Bay's Pain & Gain teams Johnson up with Mark Wahlberg. But before all that, Ric Roman Waugh's Snitch will see him taking down a crime syndicate. It looks pretty generic, but there seem to be some interesting supporting character turns for Barry Pepper and Benjamin Bratt, not to mention a sizable big screen role for Jon Bernthal. Watch!

Waugh also wrote the screenplay with Justin Haythe (The Lone Ranger, Revolutionary Road) and rounded up supporting talent like Jon Bernthal, Benjamin Bratt, Susan Sarandon and Barry Pepper to fill out the rest of the cast. Snitch is one of five films starring Dwayne Johnson next year, and it hits February 22nd, 2013.

Review: 'Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 2' You Might Start Yanking on Your Own Head after about an Hour.

PLOT: THE TWILIGHT SAGA comes to a merciful end with this, the conclusion to BREAKING DAWN. After being turned into a vampire while giving birth to Renesmee, Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) find themselves forced into a showdown with the Volturi when a rumour spreads that they've turned a child into a vampire- which is strictly forbidden. Meanwhile, Jacob (Taylor Lautner) sulks, gets his shirt off, and moons over the Cullen's infant daughter. Creeeeepy.

REVIEW: I've reviewed most of the other films for the site, and without exception I've hated them all, but believe it or not I actually hoped BREAKING DAWN: PART 2 would break the run of crap, as I'm a big fan of the director- Bill Condon. I was puzzled as to why he signed on to the films (well, other than the paycheck) and while PART 1 of BREAKING DAWN was probably the worst instalment of the series yet, I held out hope at least he might make the conclusion a little interesting. Yeah, not so much...

Like the last film, BREAKING DAWN: PART 2 takes forever and a day to get going. Literally an hour goes by with virtually nothing but exposition. It seems like Condon, working from a script by Melissa Rosenberg, was trying to be slavishly faithful to Stephanie Meyer's book to appease the fans, but the result is a film that moves at a snail's pace, just like the last one. In keeping with the other films, the performances by the core cast are one-note, with Kristen Stewart, despite now playing a vampire, still mooning over Edward as his virtual love slave. Outside of TWILIGHT, Stewart is fine, but whenever I see her in these she seems bored, and this is no exception. Meanwhile, Taylor Lautner is barely in this one, mostly due to his being a CGI wolf for the entire third act, although he does manage to get his shirt off once (cue screams from the teenage girls in the audience). Of the three, the only one who seems to be having a bit of fun in his final go-round in the saga is actually Pattinson, who for once does relatively little brooding, and actually cracks a smile here and there. Go figure!

Michael Sheen and Dakota Fanning are around to camp it up a bit as the Volturi, but Sheen is particularly- almost hideously, over the top here, making his bit part in TRON: LEGACY seem like the model of restraint. As the Cullens spend a lot of time assembling vampires from around the world, a few new actors join the franchise, with Lee Pace bringing some much needed charisma to the saga as Revolutionary War vet- turned rock-star looking vampire. Everyone else- well, they look hot (especially Ashley Greene). That's it.

Review: 'Life of Pi' is an absolutely gorgeous movie, aglow with color and filled with wraparound 3-D effects.

Life of Pi might not make you believe in God, as a character in the film suggests. It does, however, make you believe in the power of story, the way humans use them to explain or overcome trials the world deems necessary to drop us in, one of the many things that differentiates us from the wild creatures of the animal world. 

PLOT: The story of Pi (Suraj Sharma)- a sixteen year-old Indian boy, who survives a shipwreck, and finds himself adrift on a lifeboat with a Bengal Tiger- named Richard Parker. Not only does Pi have to try and survive on the open ocean, but he also has to use all of his ingenuity to keep the tiger tame and fed- lest it devour him.

REVIEW: An adaptation of Yann Martel’s landmark novel, which none other than Barack Obama once called “an elegant proof of God”, LIFE OF PI was a book many considered unfilmable. Considering that the majority of the book is about a teen boy trapped on a lifeboat with a man-eating tiger, it must have been a logistical nightmare.

But how is the movie itself?

Actually pretty great, for the most part. Director Ang Lee tends to be hit an miss for me. I'm one of the few that thought CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON was wildly overrated (any Shaw Bros., film is far better), and I despised his take on THE HULK. But, I also loved THE ICE STORM, and I thought BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN was a masterpiece. While LIFE OF PI isn't quite on that level, it can't be denied that Lee has probably made the best adaptation of Yann Martel's book that's possible. While I found the first half-hour a little frenzied, and jarring in it's flashback/flash-forward technique, once the shipwreck kicks in, and Pi finds himself adrift, it becomes pretty astonishing.

While it's certainly almost a one-man show, LIFE OF PI does have a few juicy supporting parts, the most important being Irrfan Khan as the older Pi, and Rafe Spall as Martel. Khan is good as always- especially towards the end, while Spall as a fairly blank role, once which (apparently) was originally filmed with Tobey Maguire, until Lee decided having a star in such a minor part would be distracting (he's right).

All told, I thought LIFE OF PI was a pretty great film, and certainly something that needs to be seen on the biggest screen possible at the most technically advanced theater you can find. I'd also say that it's an excellent film for kids- although the shipwreck (an amazing setpiece) is intense, and some of the animals meet rather untimely ends. That said, this is really one the whole family can enjoy- and hopefully it'll be successful. It certainly deserves to be.

Watch: Very Cool Teaser For Indie Sci-Fi Flick '2088' Has One Pissed-Off Robot

"The Future is Coming." Now, what do we have here? I love coming across anything original in the science fiction genre, and a teaser trailer has recently debuted online for a film called 2088. The project is directed by up-and-comer Steven Ilous, of the VFX house SMI Entertainment. What first started as a "transmedia sci-fi/drama" concept has developed into a feature film, and their first hint as to what's going on is revealed in this short video. It looks to be a futuristic year 2088 world with robots that go on the haywire, potentially shot found footage with an opening tag that says it's from the LAPD's "Non-Human Crimes Division".

The only current plot description/setup (albeit very vague) comes from the film's page on SMI: "To produce, direct and write a transmedia sci-fi/drama property that will entice audiences from all around the world, allowing people to experience this story through multi-platform touch points." 2088 is being written and directed by Steven Ilous, with sound design by Gavin Little of EchoLab. Not much more info is known, but it is a feature film currently being finished. Hopefully we'll see it very soon! You can see even more concept art on the film's official Tumblr or Facebook and follow along from there. We will keep you updated on this one.

We're all experiencing a hunger for some good Turkey Day food. But Lionsgate has decided to feed our appetite for hype with a new motion poster for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Watch Smurfs 2 Trailer Gets Too Close For Comfort

Okay, now this is silly.today, an "international teaser trailer" for the film arrived. But then I noticed it was the exact same trailer that I've seen play countless times before at least a dozen movies in the United States for months now. But in my search, I couldn't find this video online anywhere. It's a short teaser, mostly meant for 3D, but also still works for 2D as one of the Smurfs gets his face smashed against the screen by text teasing the sequel coming next year. It's about as good as you would expect it to be. Watch it below?

In The Smurfs 2, Hank Azaria is back as Gargamel who finds himself using "his wizarding powers to become a hit entertainer in Paris, where he hopes to use the Eiffel Tower as an energy-generating antenna that will allow him to return home." Two new villainous creatures called The Naughties, little monsters named Vexy (Christina Ricci) and Hackus (JB Smoove), give The Smurfs trouble and aim to help Gargamel get his powers back. Neil Patrick Harris is returning along with most of the original voice cast, including Fred Armisen, Katy Perry and more, when the film from director Raja Gosnell hits theaters on July 31st, 2013.

'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' Testing Sam Claflin and Eddie Redmayne for Harry Osborn

Last week, we heard that Chronicle star Dane DeHaan, Alden Ehrenreich (Tetro) and Brady Corbert (Melancholia) were all being considered for the role of Harry Osborn in director Marc Webb's upcoming sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man. We know that Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are back, but it appears that James Franco left some big shoes to fill from Raimi's original trilogy and it's tough to find a match, since THR is now reporting that none of those actors are up for the role anymore. Now a new crop of talent is testing like Sam Claflin, Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth, and Boyd Holbrook. Read on!

With the earlier batch of contestants, Sony appeared to be trying to replicate the tortured look of Franco's earlier work. Now, athleticism and good looks have reportedly emerged as the most important elements of the character (which sort of seems like a slap in the face to the earlier crew now that they're out of contention). It also sounds to me like newly-hired writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman don't have a solid grasp on the character if they can be looking for dark and brooding one minute and then switch to athletic and charming the next.

After starring in the fourth Pirates film, Claflin emerged victorious in the casting battle for the role of Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, while Redmayne was great in My Week With Marilyn and has Les Miserables out this holiday season. Booth plays a lead in the new Romeo and Juliet film opposite Hailee Steinfeld as well as starring as one of Noah's sons in Darren Aronofsky's Noah, while Holbrook had small roles in "Hatfields & McCoys" and The Oranges and is still relatively unknown. For my money, Redmayne is the best choice here because of the age similarity between he and Garfield, but we'll have to wait and see what happens.
